Susan's daughter, Julie, and her boyfriend, Danny, return to Wisteria Lane and discover the evil lurking amongst the seemingly peaceful suburban neighborhood. Meanwhile, Gabrielle and her husband, Carlos, adjust to life with their newborn daughter, and Lynette faces a difficult decision when her college-bound daughter, Penny, is accepted to a school across the country. Bree, on the other hand, hires a new employee at her catering business, but soon discovers there is more to the man than meets the eye.

"Nice Is Different Than Good," the season six premiere of Desperate Housewives, sets the stage for another year of drama, secrets, and scandal in the lives of the women of Wisteria Lane. While the episode has its fair share of laughs and lighter moments, it also introduces a number of darker storylines that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats throughout the season.

The episode begins with Susan and Mike dropping off their daughter, Julie, at the airport as she prepares to return to Wisteria Lane from college. Along with her comes her boyfriend, Danny, who immediately sets off alarm bells for Susan when she discovers that he has a criminal record. Despite her reservations, however, Susan decides to give him a chance, much to the dismay of her friends.

Meanwhile, Gabrielle and Carlos adjust to life as new parents, but soon find that their baby girl is not as easy to care for as they had anticipated. This storyline provides some of the episode's funniest moments, as Gabrielle struggles to keep up with her daughter's demands while also dealing with her own insecurities and fears about being a good mother.

Lynette, on the other hand, faces a difficult decision when her daughter, Penny, is accepted to a college across the country. Despite her desire to keep Penny close to home, Lynette knows that she must let her daughter go and pursue her dreams, which leads to some emotional scenes between the two.

Finally, Bree hires a new employee at her catering business, but soon discovers that there is more to the man than meets the eye. This storyline provides some of the episode's darker moments, as Bree is forced to confront her own prejudices and assumptions about people based on their appearances.

Throughout the episode, there are also several smaller storylines that are introduced, including the return of a familiar face from the past, and a mysterious phone call that leaves one of the women of Wisteria Lane shaken and scared.

Overall, "Nice Is Different Than Good" is a strong season premiere that sets the table for another year of unpredictable and compelling storytelling. It balances humor, heart, and drama in equal measure, while also introducing a number of intriguing new characters and storylines that will keep viewers hooked throughout the season. Fans of the show are sure to be thrilled with this episode, and newcomers to the series will find it to be a great place to start.
