Have Faith is the twenty-fifth and final episode of season four of the hit TV show Designing Women. The episode is set in Atlanta, Georgia, and follows the lives of four successful women who run their own interior design agency.
The episode opens with the team at Sugarbaker's Design Firm, working on their latest project. Julia (played by Dixie Carter), the head of the team, is in charge of designing an upmarket church. Her design ideas are met with challenges from the committee in charge of overseeing the project. However, Julia remains determined to oversee the project through to completion and she enlists the help of her team to move things along.
Meanwhile, Charlene (played by Jean Smart), who is heavily pregnant, is struggling with her own doubts and fears about her impending motherhood. She confides in her colleagues about her worries and they all reassure her that she will be a great mother.
Mary Jo (played by Annie Potts) is going through a crisis in her personal life. Her ex-husband has come back into her life, and she is torn between getting back with him and moving on with her life. Her colleagues offer their support and opt to throw her a surprise party to cheer her up.
Meanwhile, Suzanne (played by Delta Burke) is grappling with her own set of problems. Her ex-husband has been making demands on her time and energy, and she is finding it increasingly difficult to balance him with her work and personal life.
As the team progresses with the project, they begin to encounter several challenges. One of the most significant is the arrival of Reverend Southwick. He is a vociferous preacher who is very critical of their design choices. Julia, who has never liked being questioned, becomes increasingly frustrated with his interference. However, she is determined to see the project through to the end, and she defends her choices to Reverend Southwick and reminds him of the trust the committee placed in her and her team.
The situation with Mary Jo's ex-husband continues to escalate, and he ends up causing a scene at her party. Her colleagues rally around her and help her to deal with the situation. Meanwhile, Charlene goes into labor, and the other women race to the hospital to be there for her. Suzanne and Julia try to call her husband, but he is unreachable. After several attempts, they finally reach him, and he hurries to the hospital to be with his wife.
As the project progresses towards completion, the team tries to put the finishing touches on their design plan. As they do so, they receive a surprise visit from Reverend Southwick. This time, he appears to have come around to their way of thinking, and he congratulates them on a job well done.
In the end, the project is completed on time and to everyone's satisfaction. Charlene gives birth to a healthy baby boy, and Mary Jo comes to a decision about her ex-husband. Suzanne also makes headway in resolving her issues with her ex-husband.
The episode wraps up with the team celebrating a job well done with a champagne toast. They reflect on how far they've come and how much they've accomplished together in the past year. They look forward to the future and new challenges that await them in the coming year.
Overall, the episode is a poignant and touching tribute to the strength of women in the face of adversity. It highlights the difficulties they face in balancing their personal and professional lives while remaining true to themselves and their values. The episode is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys excellent writing, great characters, and compelling storytelling.
