Designing Women was a popular sitcom that aired from 1986 to 1993. The show followed the lives of four women who worked at an interior design firm in Atlanta, Georgia. In season 4 episode 24 titled "Foreign Affairs", the ladies find themselves caught up in a political scandal when a foreign diplomat visits their office.
The episode begins with the designing women starting their day as usual in their office. However, things quickly take a turn for the unexpected when a foreign diplomat, Mr. Azarian, arrives unannounced at the office. Mr. Azarian is seeking their help in designing a new embassy, but things quickly become complicated when it's revealed that he may have some ulterior motives.

The ladies are understandably hesitant to get involved in such a shady business, but they eventually agree to help in order to not jeopardize their reputation and lose a lucrative client.
Throughout the episode, the designing women are faced with several dilemmas as they attempt to navigate their way through the scandal. They struggle with the moral implications of helping Mr. Azarian hide his wrongdoing, all while trying to maintain their professional integrity.
Meanwhile, the ladies also deal with personal issues of their own. Julia Sugarbaker is struggling to come to terms with her feelings for her ex-husband, while Mary Jo Shively is dealing with her own marital issues.
As the episode comes to a close, the designing women are faced with a difficult decision. They must decide whether to continue to help Mr. Azarian or to turn him over to the authorities and risk losing him as a client. Ultimately, the ladies make the decision that they believe is best for themselves and their business.
Designing Women was known for its witty writing and strong female characters, and "Foreign Affairs" was no exception. The episode tackled some serious issues while still providing plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments. It was a great example of what made the show so beloved during its run.
