In Designing Women season 3 episode 18, titled "Come On and Marry Me, Bill," the ladies of Sugarbaker's are thrown into a tizzy when their friend and former client Elayne Forbes (played by Delta Burke) announces that she's getting married to Bill Stillfield (played by Lewis Arquette), a man whom they've all had unpleasant encounters with in the past.
As they prepare for the wedding, the women can't help but express their skepticism about Elayne's choice of partner. Julia (played by Dixie Carter) is convinced that Bill is only marrying Elayne for her money, while Mary Jo (played by Annie Potts) recalls an incident in which Bill made a lewd comment about her behind Elayne's back.
Meanwhile, Charlene (played by Jean Smart) is in the midst of preparing for her own wedding to her fiancé, Bill (played by Douglas Barr), and is feeling particularly sensitive to the idea of marriage. When Elayne asks her to be a bridesmaid, Charlene is torn between wanting to support her friend and wanting to distance herself from the whole situation.
As the wedding day approaches, tensions run high and secrets are revealed. Will Elayne go through with the wedding, despite her friends' misgivings? Will Charlene be able to reconcile her own feelings about marriage with the reality of Elayne's situation? And will Bill Stillfield prove himself to be the kind of man that Elayne truly deserves?
With its trademark blend of humor and heart, Designing Women season 3 episode 18 is a must-see for fans of the show and anyone who loves a good romantic comedy. So come on and join the ladies of Sugarbaker's as they navigate the highs and lows of love, friendship, and everything in between.
