Der kleine Mann is a television show produced by BRAINPOOL TV that is based on a German book series by Hans Fallada. The show first aired in 2013 and consists of six episodes. The show is centered around the life of Johannes Pinneberg, a young man who is struggling to make ends meet in 1930s Berlin.
Johannes is played by Christian Ulmen, and he is fantastic in his portrayal of a small, meek man who is trying to find his way in a rapidly changing world. He is engaged to Lämmchen, played by Jördis Triebel, and the two of them are expecting a child. However, their living situation is far from ideal, and Johannes is struggling to provide for them.
Throughout the show, we see Johannes try to make a better life for himself and his family. He takes a job selling typewriters, and although he is initially successful, he soon realizes that the job is not as stable as he thought. He then takes a job as a door-to-door salesman, but this too proves to be difficult.
As the show progresses, we see Johannes and Lämmchen grow apart. She becomes increasingly frustrated with their living situation and with Johannes' inability to better their lives. Meanwhile, Johannes becomes more and more disillusioned with the world around him. He sees the rise of the Nazis and the growing inequality and poverty in Berlin, and he begins to lose hope.
Despite the bleakness of the subject matter, the show manages to be both funny and touching. Ulmen's portrayal of Johannes is both sympathetic and humorous, and he brings a lot of life to the character. The show also has a great supporting cast, including Sebastian Blomberg as Johannes' friend, and Albrecht Schuch as his boss at the typewriter company.
The show is beautifully shot, with a lot of attention to detail in the production design. The costumes and sets are all accurate to the time period, and the show does a great job of recreating 1930s Berlin.
Overall, Der kleine Mann is a great show that is well worth watching. It's a touching and funny exploration of one man's struggle to make a better life for himself and his family in a time of great change and upheaval. The show is excellently acted and beautifully shot, and it manages to be both entertaining and thought-provoking. If you're looking for a great drama to watch, Der kleine Mann is definitely worth checking out.
