In Death Valley Days season 1, episode 5 titled "She Burns Green," viewers are transported to the desolate landscape of the American West in the mid-19th century. This episode tells the story of a prospector named Joe who discovers a valuable vein of silver ore in Death Valley. When he tries to sell his claim to a group of businessmen, they offer him a meager price and try to cheat him out of his rightful earnings.
Frustrated and desperate, Joe turns to a mysterious woman named Laura for assistance. Laura is known throughout the region for her ability to locate precious minerals with her divining rod, a tool that was widely used during this era. She agrees to help Joe, but warns him that the vein of silver he has discovered is cursed and will bring him nothing but misfortune. Despite her warning, Joe is determined to sell his claim and make a profit.
As Joe sets out to find a buyer for his silver, Laura senses danger lurking in the shadows. She warns him to be careful and to avoid making deals with shady characters. But Joe is blinded by greed and ignores her advice. He makes a deal with a group of unscrupulous businessmen, who promise to pay him a large sum of money for his claim. However, when Joe returns to Death Valley to collect his earnings, he finds that the businessmen have double-crossed him and have no intention of paying him what he is owed.
With no other options left, Joe turns to Laura for help once again. She tells him that the only way to break the curse of the silver is to destroy the vein and bury it deep in the ground. Joe is hesitant to do this, but eventually agrees to follow her instructions. Together, they ride out to the site of Joe's discovery and use dynamite to blow up the vein of silver.
Although Joe is initially disappointed that he did not make a profit from his discovery, he soon realizes that he has been blessed with something far more valuable: the friendship and guidance of Laura. As they ride back to civilization, Joe is filled with gratitude for the mysterious woman who saved him from ruin.
