Light Yagami, a highly intelligent high school student, has obtained a mysterious supernatural notebook known as the Death Note which has the power to kill anyone whose name is written within its pages. Light has started to use the notebook to eliminate criminals and create a better world, becoming known as the masked vigilante Kira.

In episode 3, titled "Dealings," Light is amazed to find that none of the people he has targeted have died from heart attacks as predicted by the Death Note. Light begins to investigate why this is happening when he receives a message from a person claiming to be Kira. The message asks Kira to start killing people who are trying to capture him.

At the same time, FBI agent Raye Penber, who has been investigating the growing number of deaths in Japan, takes a train where he discovers that he's sharing the same car as Light Yagami. Light is immediately cautious and wonders if Raye is there to find him. He uses the Death Note to find out his true identity and learns that he's an FBI agent who is in Japan on a top-secret mission.

Light realizes that Raye and the other FBI agents are a danger to him, so he starts to devise a plan to eliminate them. In order to do so, Light must obtain Raye's full name and face, something that is difficult to do considering he's an FBI agent. Despite this obstacle, Light remains determined to complete his mission.

Meanwhile, Light's father, who is the chief of the National Police Agency, meets with L, a mysterious and highly intelligent detective who is working on the Kira case. L informs him of his theory that Kira is among the police force and that his powers might be limited or altered. Chief Yagami agrees that the possibility is real, but he doesn't yet know that his own son is Kira.

As the tension builds, Light realizes that he must outsmart Raye if he wants to continue to use the Death Note without getting caught. He comes up with a well-thought-out plan that involves using a second Death Note and sacrificing one of his acquaintances. His plan is to write Raye's name in the second Death Note, which will prevent his death by heart attack and create suicide to dismiss FBI's doubt on Kira's existence.

After some close calls, Light succeeds in obtaining Raye's face and full name, and proceeds with his plan to eliminate the FBI agents. However, L's intuition is one step ahead. He becomes suspicious of Light who he believes is connected to Kira. L and the police force start to observe Light's every move in order to find solid evidence to make him involved in the case.

In conclusion, episode 3 of Death Note season 1 "Dealings" has a thrilling storyline with several twists and turns. The episode showcases Light's genius and shows how determined he is to continue as Kira without getting caught. The episode highlights his crafty way of outsmarting the FBI agents while keeping himself a step ahead of L and the police. The episode sets the stage for the rest of the season and leaves viewers eagerly anticipating what is coming next.
