Detective Inspector Neville Parker returns to Saint Marie for his second case, but he's still struggling to adjust to life on the island. While sorting through boxes at the police station, he discovers an old case involving an English couple who disappeared from their yacht 20 years ago.
As Neville delves deeper into the case, he discovers that the husband, now presumed dead, was a member of a wealthy family with ties to the island. He also learns that the wife, who was never found, was a painter who was inspired by the local landscape.
Meanwhile, the team is called to investigate the death of a young woman who was found drowned in the sea. The victim, a local bartender, is initially assumed to have accidentally fallen into the water while drunk, but Neville begins to suspect foul play when he discovers a piece of jewelry in her possession that appears to be from the missing couple's yacht.
Neville's investigation takes him to the wealthy family's estate, where he uncovers secrets and lies that have been kept hidden for years. As he puts the pieces of the puzzle together, he realizes that the missing couple's story is more complex and tragic than he ever imagined.
With the help of his team, Neville must navigate the island's tight-knit community and uncover the truth about what really happened to the missing couple and the young woman who died. But as tensions rise and new suspects emerge, Neville begins to question whether he can trust anyone on the island.
