In episode 6 of season 7 of Deadly Women, entitled "Evil Guardians," viewers are taken on a journey through three chilling cases in which people in positions of trust and care for children are revealed to be anything but benevolent.
The first case centers on an Ohio daycare owner named Lois Nadeau, who was not only physically abusive towards the children in her care but also neglected them to the point of endangerment. Nadeau's disturbing behavior was uncovered by a young mother who noticed bruises and injuries on her child after picking them up from the daycare. Despite Nadeau's attempts to cover up her abuse, the evidence against her ultimately led to her conviction and imprisonment.
The second case delves into the story of a grandmother from Georgia named Teresa Drum, who was tasked with caring for her two young grandsons after their mother passed away. However, Drum soon began to exhibit concerning behavior towards the children, including subjecting them to harsh punishments and locking them in a closet for hours on end. Tragically, one of the young boys lost his life as a result of Drum's abuse. She was ultimately brought to justice and sentenced to life in prison.
The final case featured in "Evil Guardians" involves a mother from Michigan named Lisa Piper, who turned to extreme measures in order to secure custody of her granddaughter. Piper concocted a plan to fake her own daughter's suicide and then take custody of the child under false pretenses. However, her deceit was eventually uncovered, and she was convicted of murder and kidnapping.
Throughout the episode, experts and those involved in each case provide commentary and insight into the motives and actions of the perpetrators. The show also highlights the lasting impact that such abuse and neglect can have on children and their families. While "Evil Guardians" is undoubtedly a difficult episode to watch, it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of protecting and nurturing the youngest and most vulnerable members of our society.
