The fourth season of the popular true crime series, Deadly Women, continues to explore the twisted minds and heinous crimes of female killers. In episode 7, The Sacred Bond, viewers are introduced to a trio of women who commit acts of murder and betrayal in the name of a sacred bond.
The first woman featured in the episode is Mary Winkler, a devout Christian and pastor's wife from Tennessee. Despite living what appears to be a pious life, Mary harbors a dark secret: she has been physically and emotionally abused by her husband, Matthew. One day, after an argument with Matthew, Mary picks up a shotgun and shoots him dead. She then flees with their children, leaving a community stunned and searching for answers.
The second case involves Suzan Carson and her husband, Michael Hughes, who are part of a cult led by Charles Manson. The two become obsessed with Manson's teachings and commit a string of murders, kidnapping, and robbery in the late 1980s. After being apprehended by authorities, Suzan testifies against Michael and is sentenced to life in prison.
Finally, viewers meet Sheri Coleman, a nurse from Illinois who marries a Christian youth minister, Chris Coleman, and starts a family. However, Sheri soon discovers that Chris is having an affair with another woman and is forced to confront him. In a fit of rage, Chris murders Sheri, their two sons, and the family dog. The crime shocks the community and leads to a high-profile trial.
As with previous episodes of Deadly Women, The Sacred Bond delves into the psychological states of its subjects, exploring their motivations and examining the events that led to their crimes. The episode also features interviews with experts in criminology and psychology, who provide insight into the phenomenon of female killers and their impact on society.
Through its careful attention to detail and its unflinching portrayal of its subjects, Deadly Women continues to captivate audiences with its gripping and disturbing stories.
