In the episode titled "Ice Cold" from season 14 of Deadly Women, viewers are introduced to three chilling stories of women who committed murder in cold and calculated ways. The first story is about a nurse who uses her job to kill her patients, the second is about a woman who kills her own father for his money, and the third is about a woman who lures her husband into a deadly trap.
The first story is about Kristen Gilbert, a nurse who worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Northampton, Massachusetts. Gilbert had a history of mental illness and had been fired from several nursing jobs before coming to work at the hospital. She quickly gained a reputation as a skilled and caring nurse, but her colleagues soon became suspicious when an unusually high number of patients under her care began to die. It was discovered that Gilbert had been injecting patients with lethal doses of epinephrine, a drug that can cause heart failure. She was eventually convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
The second story is about Margaret Rudin, a wealthy socialite from Las Vegas who killed her husband, a real estate mogul, to gain access to his money. Rudin had a history of lying and manipulating those around her, and she convinced her husband to invest heavily in a scheme that she knew would fail. When her husband discovered the truth, Rudin shot him and buried his body in the desert. She then used her charm and wealth to avoid suspicion, but eventually, her lies caught up with her, and she was convicted of murder.
The third story is about Tina Leja, a woman who had a troubled childhood and a rocky marriage. When her husband, a wealthy businessman, decided to divorce her, Leja hatched a plan to kill him and collect his life insurance. She convinced her husband to take a road trip with her to northern California, where she lured him into a remote area and shot him. She then staged the scene to look like a robbery gone wrong, but detectives quickly saw through her lies and arrested her for murder.
Throughout the episode, viewers are given an in-depth look at these three cases and the women behind them. The show explores the psychology behind their crimes and the methods they used to manipulate those around them. It also features interviews with law enforcement officials, family members of the victims, and experts in criminology. Overall, "Ice Cold" is a chilling look into the minds of deadly women who stop at nothing to get what they want.
