In Deadliest Catch season 9 episode 5 titled "Judgment Day," the crab fishing fleet sets out for their final haul of the season. The captains and crews are all in a race to fill their quotas before they are forced to head back to port. The captains are faced with difficult decisions as they try to balance the need to make their last catch with the safety of their crews.
On the Northwestern, Captain Sig Hansen struggles with his new greenhorn, Jake Anderson, who is having a tough time adjusting to life on the boat. Adding to the stress, the Northwestern's hydraulic system starts to fail, putting the entire crew at risk. Sig must decide whether to continue fishing or head back to port to make repairs.
Meanwhile, on the Time Bandit, Captain Andy Hillstrand and his crew face their own challenges. A deckhand falls ill, and Andy must choose between continuing to fish or taking the time to get him medical attention. With only a few days left in the season, every hour counts, but Andy knows that the safety of his crew must come first.
Over on the Cornelia Marie, Captain Josh Harris has a decision to make regarding his deck boss, Casey McManus. Casey has been pushing Josh to let him run his own boat, and Josh must decide whether to let him go or keep him on board. As the clock ticks down on the season, Josh knows that he can't afford any missteps, but he also can't ignore Casey's ambitions.
On the Wizard, Captain Keith Colburn is feeling the pressure to fill his quota after a slow start to the season. The crew is forced to do a dangerous maneuver to get to a hot spot, and tensions run high as they try to make up lost time. With time running out, Keith knows that he can't afford any mistakes.
As the boats race to fill their catches, they face dangerous weather, equipment failure, and crew morale issues. Each captain must weigh their own desire to succeed against the safety of their crew as they make their final push to the finish line. With everything on the line, it's judgment day for the crab fishing fleet.
