As the crab season intensifies, the competition heats up in Deadliest Catch season 7 episode 7, Thick as Thieves. The episode follows the captains and crew of the Northwestern, Time Bandit, Wizard, and Cornelia Marie as they battle rough waters, mechanical issues, and each other to catch as much Alaskan king crab as possible.
At the start of the episode, Captain Sig Hansen of the Northwestern is feeling confident after a successful haul. However, he knows that he can't let his guard down, as the market for crab is constantly fluctuating. Meanwhile, the Time Bandit, captained by the Hillstrand brothers, is struggling with equipment failures that could cost them valuable time and money.
Over on the Wizard, Captain Keith Colburn is dealing with his own set of problems. A leak in the boat's hydraulic system is causing serious issues with their gear, and tensions are high among the crew. Compounding their woes is the fact that the first two strings of their pots have come up nearly empty, meaning they're behind schedule and may not meet their quota.
On the Cornelia Marie, Captain Derrick Ray is desperate to make up for lost time. With his back against the wall, he decides to make a risky move and fish in an area that he knows is dangerous. The decision pays off, but not before the crew experiences some terrifying moments.
As the episode progresses, the competition between the boats heats up. When the Time Bandit drops their pots, they find themselves in the same spot as the Northwestern. With so much at stake, the two boats race to see who can harvest the most crab before the other. The Wizard, still struggling with their gear, tries to make up for lost time by dropping pots in deeper waters, but the plan may backfire on them.
In addition to the challenges posed by the weather and mechanical failures, the captains and crew also have to navigate the murky waters of interpersonal relationships. On the Northwestern, greenhorn Jake Anderson finds himself at odds with deckhand Matt Bradley when he feels that Matt isn't doing his share of the work. Meanwhile, tension builds on the Cornelia Marie when Derrick accuses deckhand Freddie Maugatai of stealing his crab. The two men have a heated confrontation that could spell the end of their working relationship.
Despite the setbacks, each of the boats manages to haul in some impressive catches. As the episode draws to a close, and the boats begin to head back to port, each captain takes stock of their successes and failures. Some are disappointed with their hauls, while others are ecstatic with their performance. But all of them know that the competition is far from over, and there's still a lot of crab to be caught.
Deadliest Catch season 7 episode 7, Thick as Thieves, is a tense and exciting episode that showcases the dedication and hard work of the brave men and women who risk their lives to fish the treacherous waters of the Bering Sea. With high stakes and high drama, it's a must-see for fans of the show and anyone who loves a good adventure story.
