Dead Like Me is a dark comedy-drama television series that follows the lives of grim reapers who are responsible for guiding the souls of the newly deceased into the afterlife. In season 2, episode 3, titled "Ghost Story," the focus is on George (Ellen Muth), a young woman who died in a freak accident and became a grim reaper, along with her fellow reapers. The episode follows George as she tries to come to terms with her role as a reaper, while also dealing with the fallout from her past life.

The episode begins with George and her colleagues receiving their next assignments from their boss, Rube (Mandy Patinkin). George is assigned a ghost to help move on to the afterlife, but finds out the ghost is actually her ex-boyfriend, Trip (Eric Balfour), who died in a drug-related incident. George is conflicted about helping Trip move on, as she is still dealing with her own unresolved feelings for him.

Meanwhile, George's family is still struggling to come to terms with her death. They have become reclusive and are barely functioning, and George's younger sister, Reggie (Britt McKillip), has started acting out in school. George is troubled by the impact her death has had on her family, and wonders if she made a mistake by choosing to become a reaper instead of moving on to the afterlife herself.

As George tries to help Trip come to terms with his own death, she is also forced to confront her own demons. She finds herself haunted by memories of her past life, and begins to question her role as a reaper. She confides in her colleague Daisy (Laura Harris), who tells her that everyone goes through a period of doubt, but that she needs to remember why she chose to become a reaper in the first place.

As the episode progresses, George and Trip begin to reconnect, and George begins to see that Trip's death was not entirely his fault. She realizes that she needs to let go of her anger and resentment towards him, in order to help him move on. As Trip starts to understand the true nature of his death, he also begins to come to terms with his own mistakes, and the two of them are able to finally say goodbye.

In the end, George returns to her boss Rube, feeling more at peace with her role as a reaper. She also makes the decision to reach out to her family, and tries to help them move forward in their own lives. The episode ends on a hopeful note, with George realizing that even though she may not be able to fully move on from her past life, she can still find some form of closure by helping others do the same.

Overall, "Ghost Story" is a poignant and emotional episode that deals with themes of loss, forgiveness, and moving on. The show's blend of humor and heartache make for a compelling watch, and the performances by the talented cast are top-notch. Fans of the series will not be disappointed by this episode, which ranks as one of the best of the series.
