Ep 3. Piece of my Heart (1)

DCI Banks is a British crime drama television series based on the novels by Peter Robinson. The show follows the work of Detective Chief Inspector Alan Banks (played by Stephen Tompkinson) and his team of detectives as they solve crimes in the fictional town of Eastvale, Yorkshire.

In season 4 episode 3, titled Piece of my Heart (1), DCI Banks and his team are tasked with solving a double murder. The episode opens with a young woman named Jennifer Lewis (played by Maimie McCoy) arriving at a mansion in the countryside. She is greeted by a man named Marcus Payne (played by Shaun Dingwall), who introduces himself as the owner of the property. Jennifer tells him that she is a journalist and that she is there to write a profile on him for a magazine.

As they walk around the mansion, Marcus tells Jennifer about his business ventures and his personal life. He shows her a room that he is renovating and tells her that it is going to be a surprise for his wife. Jennifer notices that there is a large painting on the wall that has been covered up by a sheet. Marcus tells her that it is a painting of his wife and that he is going to reveal it to her as a gift.

Later that night, DCI Banks receives a call from the local police informing him that there has been a double murder at the mansion. Banks and his team arrive at the scene and begin their investigation. The victims are identified as Marcus Payne and his wife, Anne (played by Sophie Ward). Both have been stabbed to death.

As the investigation unfolds, the detectives discover that Marcus had a secret son named Luke (played by Jack Deam) who had been searching for him for years. Luke becomes a suspect in the murder investigation, but he denies any involvement in the crime. Banks also learns that Jennifer Lewis, the journalist who had visited the mansion earlier, had a history with Marcus and had been involved in a relationship with him.

As the detectives dig deeper into Marcus' personal life, they discover that he had been involved in several business deals that had failed and left many people out of pocket. They also find out that Anne had been having an affair with their gardener.

The investigation takes a dramatic turn when Banks receives a phone call from a man who claims to be the killer. The man tells Banks that he has left a clue at the scene of the crime and that he intends to kill again. Banks and his team race against time to solve the case before the killer strikes again.

Piece of my Heart (1) is a gripping episode that keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats. The complex characters and intricate plot twists make for a thrilling viewing experience. As always, Stephen Tompkinson delivers a strong performance as DCI Banks, and the supporting cast is equally impressive. Fans of the show will not be disappointed with this episode.
