Dating Rules from My Future Self is a comedy web series that follows the life of 27-year-old Lucy Lambert (Shiri Appleby), who starts receiving text messages from her future self. The show, produced by Alloy Entertainment, was released in 2012 and starred Alison Becker as Lucy's best friend, Taylor Kinney as her future love interest, Bryce Johnson as her ex-boyfriend, and Candice Accola as her younger sister.

The series begins with Lucy on a date with a guy she met online. She quickly realizes that he isn't what she was expecting and decides to leave. On her way out, she is approached by a mysterious bartender who hands her a phone and tells her that she will be receiving text messages from her future self. At first, Lucy is skeptical, but she soon discovers that the messages are real and that her future self is giving her advice on how to navigate through her love life.

Lucy's future self is played by Appleby, who does an excellent job of portraying an older and wiser version of Lucy. She advises Lucy on everything from what to wear on a date to how to handle difficult situations with her ex-boyfriend. Each episode focuses on a different aspect of Lucy's dating life, with the advice from her future self acting as a guide.

Throughout the series, Lucy navigates through the ups and downs of dating, with hilarious results. The show does an excellent job of mixing humor with relatable situations, making it an enjoyable watch for anyone who has ever been in the dating scene.

One of the standout characters in the series is Lucy's best friend, Chloe, played by Alison Becker. Chloe is the perfect sounding board for Lucy, offering advice and support when needed. Her character provides a much-needed balance to Lucy's more neurotic personality, adding a level of levity to the show.

Another memorable character is Taylor Kinney's character, Dave. Dave is Lucy's future love interest, and their chemistry is undeniable. Kinney does an excellent job of portraying a charming and funny guy, making it easy to see why Lucy falls for him.

The show also features Bryce Johnson as Grant, Lucy's ex-boyfriend. Johnson does an excellent job of playing the typical 'bad boy' ex, adding some drama to the show. His character is the source of much of Lucy's stress but also leads to some of the show's most humorous moments.

The final main character is Zoe, Lucy's younger sister, played by Candice Accola. Zoe is everything that Lucy is not – confident, outgoing, and unapologetically herself. Her character provides a nice counterbalance to Lucy's more reserved personality, and their sibling dynamic is both entertaining and relatable.

Dating Rules from My Future Self is a well-written and well-acted show that has gained a following since its release. Its mix of relatable situations and humor make it an entertaining watch, and the chemistry between the characters is undeniable. The show's use of text messages from the future adds a unique twist to the standard romantic comedy, making it a must-watch for anyone looking for something new in the dating genre.
