In a pastiche of classic spy films and TV shows, Danger 5 opens its first season with the episode "I Danced With Hitler." Against the backdrop of the Second World War, a team of international spies comes together to take down the ultimate evil: Hitler himself.
Danger 5 is led by Colonel Chestbridge (David Ashby), a charismatic and flamboyant British officer with a penchant for flashy suits and a love of gin. He is joined by a motley crew of operatives, each with their own quirks and specialties.
First up is spy and weapons master Pierre (Aldo Mignone), a dashing Frenchman with a wide smile and a flamethrower. Then there's Jackson (Sean James Murphy), an all-American hero with impossibly perfect teeth and a willingness to take on any challenge. Russian femme fatale Ilsa (Natasa Ristic) brings both beauty and brains to the team, while Scottish demolitions expert Tucker (David Ashby, pulling double duty) rounds out the group.
In "I Danced With Hitler," the Danger 5 team is tasked with infiltrating a Nazi-organized ball in order to get close to Hitler himself. Their goal: to eliminate the Führer and end the war. Along the way, they'll face a host of obstacles, including dangerous Nazi agents, treacherous allies, and the toughest challenge of all: fitting in at a fancy party.
As they prepare for their mission, the team gets to know each other a bit better. Chestbridge regales them with tales of his glamorous past, including a stint as a Hollywood stuntman. Pierre uses his free time to invent increasingly deadly weapons, like his shark-launching machine gun. Jackson flexes his muscles and hits on Ilsa, who is having none of it. And Tucker...well, Tucker mostly just complains about the lack of good Scotch.
Once they arrive at the ball, things start to get serious. The team splits up to blend in with the other guests, with Chestbridge and Pierre posing as German officers while the others dress in formal wear. As they mingle, they begin to gather important information about the Nazi's plans for the war effort.
But things quickly take a turn for the worse when one of their own is captured by the Nazis. The team must work together to rescue their comrade and stay ahead of their enemies. They'll use everything at their disposal, from explosives to karate, to get the job done.
As the episode draws to a close, the Danger 5 team finds itself in a tense showdown with Hitler himself. Will they succeed in their mission, or will the war continue to rage on? One thing's for sure: they'll do it in style.
Danger 5 is a hilarious and irreverent take on the spy genre, full of campy humor, over-the-top action sequences, and outrageous characters. "I Danced With Hitler" is a perfect introduction to the world of Danger 5, setting the stage for a wild ride through history.
