D-Frag! is a comedic anime series produced by Brains Base studio and directed by Seiki Sugawara. Adapted from a manga of the same name by Tomoya Haruno, the show first aired in Japan in January 2014 and was later licensed by FUNimation for streaming in North America.

The story follows Kazama Kenji, a high school student who prides himself on his delinquent reputation and his ability to command his own gang of friends. One day, he stumbles upon a group of four eccentric girls - Roka Shibasaki, Chitose Karasuyama, Sakura Mizukami, and Minami Ohsawa - who turn out to be infamous members of their school's Game Creation Club. After a misunderstanding, Kenji ends up being forced to join the club as their fifth member, and thus begins his wacky misadventures with the unorthodox group.

The first thing that stands out about D-Frag! is its humor. The show is genuinely funny, with a mix of slapstick, parody, and witty banter that keeps the viewers entertained from beginning to end. The characters are all exaggerated caricatures of high school stereotypes, from the tsundere Chitose to the airheaded Sakura to the sadistic Roka, and their interactions fuel much of the comedy. The dialogue is cleverly written, with plenty of wordplay and pop culture references that add to the show's charm.

In addition to its humor, D-Frag! also has a surprising amount of heart and character development. While it's easy to dismiss the characters as one-dimensional at first glance, as the show progresses, we see that each of them has their own insecurities and quirks that make them endearing in their own way. Kenji, in particular, grows from a delinquent trying to maintain his tough exterior to a genuine friend who cares for his clubmates and is willing to put himself on the line for them.

One of the show's biggest strengths is its animation. The character designs are colorful and striking, with each member of the Game Creation Club sporting a unique look that matches their personality. The use of chibi art and exaggerated facial expressions during comedic moments enhances the humor and gives the show its own distinct style. The background music is upbeat and catchy, perfectly fitting the tone of the show.

However, the show is not without its flaws. Some of the jokes can feel repetitive or belabored, and there are times when the pacing drags or the plot feels aimless. There are also a few instances where the humor crosses into uncomfortable territory, such as a running gag involving a character being groped against their will.

Despite these issues, D-Frag! is a fun, lighthearted show that's perfect for anyone in need of a good laugh. Its quirky cast of characters and clever writing make it a standout in the comedy genre, and its heartwarming moments ensure that the audience will become invested in their wacky antics. Whether you're a fan of anime or just looking for a good comedy, D-Frag! is definitely worth checking out.

D-Frag! is a series that ran for 1 seasons (12 episodes) between January 5, 2014 and on FUNimation
