Cybill season 2 episode 21 titled "When You're Hot, You're Hot" follows the misadventures of Cybill Sheridan, a struggling actress who finally catches a break when she lands a role on a popular sitcom. However, just as her career starts to take off, her personal life seems to be falling apart.
In this episode, Cybill finds herself in a bit of a predicament when she accidentally burns down the trailer of her best friend Maryann, played by Christine Baranski. Feeling guilty, Cybill decides to offer Maryann a place to stay in her home until she can get back on her feet.
Unfortunately for Cybill, Maryann's tough love approach to living starts to wear on her nerves, especially when she discovers that her friend is a terrible houseguest. Maryann constantly criticizes Cybill's household management skills and even goes as far as to steal her clothes and jewelry.
To make matters worse, things between Cybill and her ex-husband, Ira, played by Alan Rosenberg, are starting to heat up again. Despite her better judgment, Cybill can't resist the temptation to get back together with Ira, even though she's still seeing her current boyfriend, Dr. Richard, played by Tom Wopat.
As Cybill tries to navigate her way through these complicated relationships, she also has to deal with a meddling mother, played by guest star Estelle Getty. Her mother's constant interference in her life drives Cybill up the wall, but she can't help but feel a little grateful for her help when she gets into trouble.
Overall, this episode of Cybill is a hilarious and heartfelt look at some of the challenges that come with balancing career, personal life, and family. As always, the show's witty dialogue and strong performances make it a must-watch for fans of classic sitcoms.
