For Alton Lang Syne is the eighth episode of season 14 of the popular cooking competition show Cutthroat Kitchen. The highly acclaimed show is hosted by renowned celebrity chef Alton Brown and features four chefs who must compete in a fast-paced game of culinary skills and strategy. Each chef is given a set amount of money to use throughout the show to bid on sabotages that will hinder their competition's ability to cook their dishes.
In this episode, the spotlight is on Alton Brown himself as the chefs are competing for the ultimate prize - to see Alton Brown undergo a sabotaged cooking challenge. Additionally, the contestants must also compete in other challenges while using ingredients that have been swapped with other players. With the added chaos of these sabotages, cooking in this kitchen is not for the faint of heart.
The first challenge of the show finds our contestants tasked with making a classic eggs Benedict. To make things more challenging, one of the chefs is forced to wear a giant ostrich egg on their hand, while another is limited to only using a microwave to cook their dish. As if that wasn't difficult enough, the third chef must prepare their eggs Benedict in a wok, swapping out traditional English muffins and Canadian bacon for Chinese-style ingredients. The final chef must also use non-stick spray in place of butter while making their Hollandaise sauce.
For the second challenge, the contestants are given 30 minutes to prepare a holiday-themed dish using a mystery ingredient that has been sealed in a jar. However, things quickly get heated as one chef is forced to mix all their ingredients with a hand mixer, while another is forced to cook on a snowboard, and the third chef must make their dish while walking on stilts. The final contestant must complete the challenge alongside Alton himself, who is forced to make his dish while being restrained by a straight jacket.
Lastly, the chefs must create their own personal rendition of a classic Christmas dish, the yule log. However, things get even more difficult as the contestant with the least amount of money is given the chance to sabotage another player by giving them a difficult task or handicap. The first chef must make their yule log while wearing ice skates, while the second chef can only use utensils that are attached to a Christmas tree. The third chef must cook their yule log inside a gingerbread house, while the fourth chef must work with ingredients that have been completely frozen solid.
With all these added challenges and sabotages, it is truly a test of each chef's culinary expertise and their ability to adapt to unpredictable situations. In the end, only one chef will be crowned the winner and earn the chance to see Alton Brown put his cooking skills to the test. Tune in to For Alton Lang Syne to see who will come out on top in this exciting episode of Cutthroat Kitchen.
