Ep 17. Getting' Judgey With It

  • July 6, 2016

In Cutthroat Kitchen's season 12 episode 17, titled "Getting' Judgey With It," viewers get to watch four talented chefs compete against one another in a competition that tests not only their culinary skills but also their ability to outwit each other. The prize at stake? A whopping $25,000 that can only be won by the chef who manages to survive the grueling rounds of cooking challenges that follow.

As the episode kicks off, host Alton Brown, sporting his signature smart and sassy style, welcomes the chefs to the kitchen stadium, where they must partake in three rounds of challenges. Each round has a secret ingredient that must be used, and each chef is given $25,000 to shop for their ingredients at a specialty store of their choosing. But as with all things Cutthroat Kitchen, there's a catch.

Throughout the episode, the chefs must compete in a series of sabotages that are given to them by their fellow competitors. These sabotage cards can be played at any time and can range from mild, like forcing a chef to share cooking space with an opponent, to downright diabolical, like taking away a chef's knife and replacing it with a toy version. The chefs must decide whether to use their own money to bid on sabotages that they can use against other chefs or save their money to protect themselves against their opponents' tactics.

As the competition progresses, the chefs are given various tasks to complete. In one round, they must create a dish that incorporates the secret ingredient of spelt flour, but with an added twist. They must cook while continuously having their hands tied behind their backs! In another round, the chefs must grill a steak to perfection, but they must do so while standing on one leg and wearing shoes that don't match!

To make things even more interesting, the episode features a panel of celebrity judges who will rate each of the chefs' dishes on presentation, taste, and creativity. These judges are none other than Cutthroat Kitchen alums Chef Katsuji Tanabe, Chef Kelly Liken, and Chef Robyn Almodovar.

As the chefs present their dishes, the judges give both praise and criticism, and the chefs must wait anxiously to see who will be eliminated and who will make it to the final round. In the end, only two chefs remain, and they must prepare a dessert that incorporates the final secret ingredient: purple carrots.

With only a few minutes left on the clock, the chefs rush to finish their dishes and present them to the judges, who must decide on a winner. The chefs hold their breath as the judges deliver their verdict, and in the end, the winner is announced, taking home the coveted prize of $25,000 and bragging rights as the champion of Cutthroat Kitchen.

Overall, "Getting' Judgey With It" is a fun and entertaining episode of Cutthroat Kitchen that showcases the wit, creativity, and determination of its contestants. With the added element of sabotage and the humorous twists to the cooking challenges, viewers are sure to be entertained from start to finish.
