Ep 14. Naughty vs. Nice

Cutthroat Kitchen is a cooking competition where four chefs go tit for tat in their culinary prowess and kitchen stamina. Host and infamous auctioneer Alton Brown puts the chefs through the wringer as they try to outwit, out-cook and outlast each other. The catch? They're all given a sabotaging card that can ruin their chances of victory. Each episode follows the four chefs as they compete in three grueling rounds, each with a different theme.

Season 10 Episode 14 is called Naughty Vs. Nice, and it's centered around the holiday season. The four chefs are all dressed in holiday attire as they enter the Cutthroat Kitchen arena. They each carry a gift-wrapped package that they believe will help them in the competition. Alton Brown kicks off the first round and asks the chefs to create a dish using a classic holiday bird: the turkey.

One chef decides to go the "naughty" route and bids on a "burning candles" card, which forces his opponents to cook with the flames from candles instead of their stovetops. Another chef goes the "nice" route and purposely spends money on ingredients that the other chefs might need, hoping that they'll be more likely to choose a "nice" sabotage card for her in round two.

Round two is all about the sides. The chefs must create two holiday sides that complement their turkey dishes. The "naughty" chef bids on a "birds of a feather" card, which forces his opponents to use the same ingredients he chooses in his dishes for their own. The "nice" chef bids on an "extra chef" card, which gives her the opportunity to bring in a former Cutthroat Kitchen champion to help her with her dishes.

It all comes down to round three, which is the dessert round. The chefs must create a sweet treat that incorporates holiday spices. The "naughty" chef bids on a "switcheroo" card, which forces his opponents to switch all of their ingredients with their neighbors. The "nice" chef bids for a "re-do" card, which gives her the opportunity to redo any one of her dishes from the previous rounds.

As always, the judges are unforgiving in their critiques and each chef must fight hard to impress them with flavor, presentation, and creativity. The chefs must overcome their sabotages, work together to keep their cooking spaces clean, and keep their eyes on the clock if they want to be crowned the winner of this holiday-themed episode.
