Larry David's comedy series, Curb Your Enthusiasm, aired season 3 episode 5 titled "The Terrorist Attack" on October 13, 2002. This episode revolves around Larry, who claims to have met Salman Rushdie at a bookstore. He is subsequently accused of being a terrorist by a chef and hotel staff, leading to comedic misunderstandings, arguments, and mishaps.

The episode opens with Larry and Cheryl waking up in a hotel room after a night out. Larry remembers he left a book behind at a bookstore. So, they have to return to the bookstore to retrieve it. At the bookstore, Larry claims he meets Salman Rushdie, which impresses Cheryl and confuses the bookstore employee. The employee tells them about a woman who calls suspiciously looking for Rushdie and asks if Larry is, in fact, Rushdie. Larry denies it, but the employee remains suspicious.

After leaving the bookstore, Larry and Cheryl head to a hotel restaurant for breakfast. There, the chef, Farhad, recognizes Larry from the bookstore and thinks he is a terrorist. Farhad then informs the hotel staff, who become worried about Larry and Cheryl's presence in the hotel. The staff members' paranoia intensifies as they find out one of the guests has a similar name to a suspected terrorist.

Tensions rise when the hotel manager, Mr. Takahashi, confronts Larry, and Larry learns he has also been accused of being a terrorist. Larry finds the misunderstanding absurd but fails to convince Mr. Takahashi, who demands him and Cheryl to leave the hotel. Larry, outraged and embarrassed, calls Jeff to vent and ask for help.

Jeff advises Larry to invite Salman Rushdie over to prove he's not a terrorist. Larry manages to find Rushdie's phone number and invites him to the hotel. However, the staff are hesitant to let him in, fearing he might be a terrorist accomplice. Finally, Rushdie arrives and confirms he knows Larry but adds to the confusion, claiming Larry demanded he come to the hotel. Larry, irritated, confronts Rushdie, but they're interrupted when a fire alarm goes off, forcing everyone to evacuate the building.

In the end, Larry and Cheryl are vindicated when the police arrive and find no evidence of terrorist activity. They return to their hotel room, hoping to put the ordeal behind them. However, they hear a knock on the door and are shocked to find the hotel staff had mistakenly given them another guest's room key. Larry, realizing the possibility of the same mishap happening to the real terrorist, panics and rushes out of the hotel room.

Curb Your Enthusiasm's season 3 episode 5, "The Terrorist Attack," delivers a hilarious and absurd storyline centered around Larry's unintentional involvement in a terrorism suspicion case. The episode showcases Larry's unique brand of humor, clever writing, and perfectly timed comedic performances from the cast. Fans of the show will undoubtedly appreciate this classic episode filled with misunderstandings, arguments, and comedic mishaps.
