In season 3 episode 2 of CSI: Miami, titled "Pro Per," the team investigates the murder of a prominent lawyer named Frank Bowers. The twist? The main suspect in the case is none other than Bowers' own client, a man by the name of Nathan Atherton who is representing himself in court (also known as "pro per" in legal terms).
The episode starts off with Bowers' body being found in his office, and the investigation quickly leads the team to Atherton, who becomes the prime suspect due to the fact that Bowers was planning on dropping him as a client. However, when the team tries to question Atherton, they find that he is incredibly difficult to communicate with and seems to have an obsession with legal technicalities.
As the investigation continues, the team discovers that Atherton's mental health has been in decline since his wife's death, and they begin to unravel a complex web of motives and secrets involving Atherton, Bowers, and a number of other characters.
Throughout the episode, the team faces a number of obstacles and challenges in their investigation, including a lack of cooperation from Atherton and his insistence on representing himself in court. However, they persevere and ultimately manage to piece together the evidence needed to solve the case.
As with many episodes of CSI: Miami, "Pro Per" combines intense crime-solving with strong character development and emotional drama. Fans of the show will find plenty to enjoy in this gripping installment, which showcases the talents of the show's ensemble cast and the creativity of its writers and directors.
