In CSI: Crime Scene Investigation season 6 episode 5, titled "Gum Drops", the Las Vegas CSI team is called to a construction site where a body has been found inside a concrete pillar. Upon further investigation, it is discovered that the body is that of a teenage girl who disappeared three years ago. The team soon realizes that the girl's death may be linked to a string of other missing teenagers.
As the investigation continues, the team uncovers some unsettling details about the victims. They discover that all of the missing teenagers were involved in a substance abuse program and were receiving treatment at a rehab center. The detectives soon learn that the program's director, Chris Bezich, had been using the teens for his own financial gain by selling their medication on the black market.
The team also finds out that one of the victims had recently received a large sum of money from Bezich, raising suspicions that he may have been involved in her death.
With the help of their new lab technician, Mia Dickerson, the team examines a piece of gum found at the scene, which ultimately leads them to their suspect. Through careful analysis and forensic science, they are able to solve the case and bring the perpetrator to justice.
Throughout the episode, tensions rise as the team works to solve the case and deal with their own personal issues. Sara Sidle experiences flashbacks of her own traumatic experience with substance abuse, while Catherine Willows confronts her estranged father about his past mistakes.
Ultimately, "Gum Drops" is a gripping episode that showcases the ingenuity and problem-solving skills of the CSI team, while also exploring the complex and often challenging world of addiction and its consequences.
