Jordan Cavanaugh, portrayed by Jill Hennessy, returns in the fourth season of Crossing Jordan. In the fourth episode of this season, titled Deja Past, viewers will see a difficult case for the team.
The show takes place in the Boston Medical Examiner's office, where Dr. Jordan Cavanaugh is the lead medical examiner. Her team includes Dr. Garret Macy played by Miguel Ferrer, Dr. Mahesh "Bug" Vijayaraghavensatanaryanamurthy portrayed by Ravi Kapoor, and Dr. Trey Sanders played by Mahershala Ali. Together, they solve murders and help bring justice to victims.
In Deja Past, a missing persons case turns into a much bigger investigation when a corpse is found. A woman named Sally Reed, portrayed by Anne Ramsay, disappeared and her car was found abandoned. Although the case went cold, months later, a woman named Cheryl (guest star Paige Turco) is found deceased, bearing a striking resemblance to Sally. The team is called in to investigate if the two cases are connected.
While investigating the case, Jordan discovers that this is not the first time the Boston Medical Examiner's office has dealt with a similar case. A previous instance of a missing woman and a corpse with a striking resemblance surfaced fifteen years ago. Jordan was not working in the office at the time, but this case is known to be a trauma for her.
As the team digs deeper, they find a possible suspect in the form of a woman named Marilyn (guest star Cherry Jones). Jordan and Luis, the detective on both cases (portrayed by Nicki Aycox), interviewed Marilyn fifteen years ago, and while they had enough circumstantial evidence, they were never able to prosecute her. The team is determined to link Marilyn to this most recent case in order to finally bring her to justice.
Throughout the episode, viewers are shown many flashbacks and character interactions that help provide background information on the case, as well as insight into the relationship between Jordan and Dr. Macy. The episode sheds light on the past and how it affected Jordan's career and relationships.
The murder in Deja Past is challenging for the entire team, but Jordan is especially affected because of her history with similar cases. We see her struggle with her emotions and past experiences, making this episode both emotionally charged and suspenseful.
Crossing Jordan is known for its unique combination of crime-solving and character development, and the fourth season of this show is no exception. Deja Past proves to be a tough case for the team, but they never give up on finding justice for the victims. Viewers can expect a well-written episode with strong performances from the cast, including guest stars Cherry Jones and Paige Turco.
