Jordan and Woody investigate the murder of a young woman whose body was found in an alleyway. The victim, Celine Vons, was a student at a nearby university and was known for her artistic talent. As they dig deeper into her life, they discover that Celine was involved in a tumultuous relationship with her ex-boyfriend, who had a history of violence. Their investigation takes a turn when they discover a link between Celine's murder and a famous Edgar Allan Poe story, "Murders in the Rue Morgue."
Meanwhile, Macy and Dr. Winslow are called to the scene of a car accident where a young woman is found dead. The driver of the car is a wealthy businessman's son, and he insists that someone else was driving the car at the time of the accident. Macy is skeptical of his story and begins to suspect that the young man may have been driving under the influence.
As the two cases progress, Jordan becomes increasingly obsessed with the Poe reference and begins to see connections between the story and Celine's murder. She becomes convinced that the killer is trying to recreate the story in real life and sets out to find the clues that will lead them to the killer. Woody is skeptical of her theory, but as they uncover more evidence, he begins to see that Jordan may be onto something.
Meanwhile, Macy's investigation into the car accident takes a surprising turn when he discovers that the young woman who died was pregnant. As he delves deeper into the case, he uncovers a web of lies and deceit that leads him to the true culprit.
In the end, both cases come to a dramatic conclusion, with Jordan and Woody racing against the clock to stop the killer before he can strike again, and Macy bringing the guilty party to justice. Along the way, the team is forced to confront some of their own demons and come to terms with the toll that their work takes on their personal lives.
