Jordan Cavanaugh is a Boston-based medical examiner who's a cross between a detective and a historian. She solves crimes by connecting the dots in post-mortem exams and teaming up with detectives to uncover evidence that could lead to a conviction.
In season 2 episode 13 titled "Strangled," Jordan is called to investigate the case of a woman found dead in her apartment. The victim, a young college student, was found strangled to death in her own bed. Jordan and her team immediately start gathering evidence and conducting interviews with the victim's friends and family.
As the investigation progresses, the team discovers that the victim was an escort, and the men she had been seeing are all possible suspects. Jordan and Woody, a detective with whom she frequently collaborates, interview each of the men in an attempt to find their connection to the victim.
Meanwhile, Jordan struggles with her own personal problems. Her father has been in jail for some time, and Jordan is still coming to terms with his incarceration. She is also dealing with the aftermath of her mother's recent death, which has left her feeling lost and alone. These personal issues begin to affect her work, and Jordan realizes that she needs to confront them head-on in order to continue to be successful.
As the investigation intensifies, a potential suspect emerges - a wealthy businessman who had been paying the victim for her services. But as Jordan delves deeper into the case, she realizes that the evidence isn't adding up, and the team may be on the wrong track. With time running out, Jordan and Woody must work quickly to solve the case and bring the killer to justice.
