Crank Yankers season 2 episode 4 features two hilarious comedians Jeff Garlin and Gilbert Gottfried. If you're familiar with the show, you know that it's all about prank calls. The comedians call unsuspecting individuals and improvise with them while the show records the calls.
In this episode, Jeff Garlin plays the character of Al Goldstein, while Gottfried plays the character of Jack a Birthday Clown. The episode starts with Garlin making a prank call to a pharmacy as Al Goldstein, who is looking for a cream to treat his rash. The pharmacist, who is unaware that it's a prank call, tries to offer him several options. As the call progresses, Garlin hilariously throws in some unexpected twists that make the pharmacist confused and hesitant. The prank is hilarious, and Garlin pulls it off masterfully.
Next, Gottfried makes a call to a swimming pool company under the guise of Jack, a birthday clown, who needs a pool for his performance. He asks some ridiculous questions, such as if they carry inflatable pools, and if he can take the pool with him after the event. The call gets even funnier when Gottfried's character appears to suffer a headache and asks the pool company representative for aspirin, and if the pool can somehow help alleviate the headache. The prank reaches a hilarious crescendo when Gottfried's character sings a song to the pool company representative, who ends up being a good sport and playing along with the call.
The third prank call involves Garlin calling a wine company, pretending to be a character named Heshy who has a speech impediment. Garlin stammers his way through the call, asking for some wine recommendations. The wine representative tries her best to help the character, but Garlin throws in some curveballs by asking for recommendations on what wine to drink while eating a tomato sandwich. The prank call gets more and more ridiculous, and Garlin is in top form as the accident-prone Heshy.
The fourth and final prank call involves Gottfried calling a pet store and claiming that he has a "Christian iguana" that needs to be baptized. The pet store representative is confused at first but comes around to play along with the call, suggesting that the iguana could be blessed with a holy water dispenser. Gottfried's character takes the prank to a whole new level by asking the representative to "friend" his iguana on Facebook. The prank call is hilarious, and Gottfried's performance is a standout in this episode.
