In the tenth episode of Crank Yankers season 2, comedians Fred Armisen and Sarah Silverman join forces to prank unsuspecting victims with their hilarious antics. The show, which is based on the popular comedy series of the same name from the early 2000s, features a team of talented voice actors who make prank calls to real people while using puppets to bring the conversations to life.
In this episode, Fred and Sarah take on a variety of personas to trick and confuse the people on the other end of the line. Some of the highlights include a utility worker who gets into a heated argument with a customer over a supposed power outage, a woman who is convinced she is speaking to a robot receptionist, and a man who is befuddled by a restaurant employee who speaks in incessant baby talk.
Throughout the episode, Fred and Sarah demonstrate their impressive range as comedians and voice actors. From playing the straight man in a prank to adopting outrageous accents and personas, they keep the laughs coming from start to finish. Despite the absurdity of the pranks, however, the show manages to avoid being mean-spirited or cruel, and instead focuses on silly, harmless fun.
One particularly memorable prank involves a man who is trying to use a phony ATM machine. Fred and Sarah call him pretending to be the bank's customer service line, and convince him to input a variety of ridiculous codes and phrases into the machine. The man becomes more and more frustrated as the machine fails to produce any cash, and is eventually left bewildered and embarrassed when he discovers the truth.
Another standout moment comes when Fred and Sarah call a man who has posted an online ad looking for a roommate. Using exaggerated Southern accents, they convince him that they are a married couple who are looking to rent out their shed as a living space. The man is clearly uncomfortable with the idea, but they continue to push him, inventing bizarre rules and requirements for the would-be tenant.
Throughout the episode, the puppets are used expertly to add an extra layer of hilarity to the pranks. From a surly old man puppet to a cutesy pink cat, the characters are all distinct and memorable. The voice actors behind the puppets do an excellent job of bringing them to life, making it easy to forget that you're watching a puppet show at all.
As with all episodes of Crank Yankers, the humor is pretty ribald and not appropriate for younger viewers. However, if you're looking for some lowbrow laughs, this episode is definitely worth checking out. With Fred Armisen and Sarah Silverman at the helm, you can be sure that the jokes will be as clever as they are crude. So sit back, relax, and get ready for some seriously silly pranks.
