In Crank Yankers season 1 episode 8, comedian Kevin Nealon and stunt performer Super Dave Osborne team up for a hilarious half hour of prank calls and puppetry. As with each episode of the show, comedic experts use puppets to make outrageous phone calls to unsuspecting individuals, often resulting in hilariously uncomfortable and awkward conversations.
In this episode, Kevin Nealon voices a puppet called "Bobby Fletcher," a middle-aged man with an affinity for social media, who calls a local party rental company to request a bouncy castle for a "grown-up party." The call quickly devolves into an awkward and inappropriate conversation as "Bobby" seeks advice from the unsuspecting employee about how to spend quality time with his 20-year-old daughter.
Super Dave Osborne - who later became known as "Marty Funkhouser" on Curb Your Enthusiasm - takes on the voice of a puppet named "Willie Macc," the owner of a local liquor store. Willie calls a customer who recently purchased a high-end bottle of Scotch, claiming that he needs to collect additional payment for the drink. The call is filled with Super Dave's signature dry humor as he argues with the customer about the increased cost of the liquor, even threatening to call the police.
The episode also includes a call from puppet "Elmer Higgins" voiced by comedian Jim Florentine, who impersonates a man with a difficult-to-understand accent who calls a landscaping company to request garden gnomes for his lawn. The ensuing conversation is filled with misunderstandings as the employee attempts to decipher Elmer's requests.
Other segments in the episode feature puppet characters such as the surly "Niles Standish," who calls a catering company with a series of impossible requests, and the eccentric "Cammy," who calls a mail-order catalog looking for the perfect "mannequin partner" for her home.
Crank Yankers season 1 episode 8 delivers a non-stop barrage of irreverent humor and absurd characters. With a cast of seasoned comedians and puppeteers, each call is masterfully executed to deliver maximum cringe-worthy entertainment. Fans of the show will not be disappointed by this hilarious episode filled with outrageous pranks and memorable characters.
