C.P.O. Sharkey season 2 episode 15, titled "Sharkey And The South American Way," follows the misadventures of Chief Petty Officer Sharkey and his crew as they embark on a new mission in South America. The episode begins with Sharkey receiving orders from his superiors to lead a team of sailors to a remote South American village, where they must assist in the construction of a new naval base. Sharkey is initially excited about the prospect of adventure, but his enthusiasm quickly wanes when he realizes that the village is in the middle of nowhere, and that the locals speak a language he doesn't understand.
Upon arrival at the village, Sharkey and his crew are greeted by the mayor, who welcomes them with open arms and promises to do everything he can to ensure their stay is comfortable. However, Sharkey soon realizes that the mayor's promises are hollow, and that he and his men will have to endure primitive living conditions, including sleeping in tents and eating unfamiliar food.
Despite the hardships, Sharkey and his crew are determined to complete their mission, and they begin working on the construction of the base. However, they soon discover that the villagers are more interested in partying than working, and that their efforts are being hindered by a lack of cooperation. Sharkey tries to motivate the villagers by organizing a soccer game, but his plan backfires when the ball is kicked into a nearby river, and his men are forced to retrieve it while fighting off crocodiles.
As the days go by, tensions continue to rise between Sharkey and the villagers, and it seems like the mission is doomed to failure. But then, a breakthrough occurs when Sharkey befriends the village shaman, who teaches him the secrets of the South American way of life. Sharkey learns to communicate with the locals, and to appreciate their customs and traditions. With his newfound knowledge, he is able to rally his crew and the villagers, and together they complete the construction of the naval base.
At the end of the episode, Sharkey and his crew bid farewell to the villagers, who throw them a farewell party complete with music, dancing, and a feast. Sharkey reflects on how he came to appreciate the South American way of life, and how his experience in the village has made him a better leader. As the ship sails away, he feels a sense of pride and satisfaction, knowing that he and his crew have accomplished their mission in the face of adversity.
