Ep 8. Waltz for Venus

Along the way, Spike meets a woman named Rocco who is also afflicted with Venus Sickness. Rocco is a dancer who dreams of performing in the Venusian dance halls, but her illness has left her unable to dance. Spike takes a liking to Rocco and offers to help her find a cure for her illness.

Meanwhile, Jet runs into an old friend who has become the captain of a Venusian police force. Jet and his friend reminisce about their past experiences on the force, and Jet begins to question whether he made the right decision in leaving the police force to become a bounty hunter.

As the search for the Nightshade intensifies, Spike discovers that the plant is not the miracle cure that Rhint had envisioned. Instead, it is a highly addictive drug that causes hallucinations and ultimately leads to death. Rhint, who had become addicted to the Nightshade herself, steals the plant and flees to the Venusian dance halls.

Spike, Jet, and the space truckers track down Rhint and discover that she has been using the Nightshade to create a new form of dance that heightens the senses and allows her to perform like never before. However, the effects of the Nightshade are short-lived, and Rhint's addiction to the drug is taking its toll.

In the end, Spike and Jet destroy the Nightshade plant, and Rhint is arrested by the Venusian police. Rocco, who had been cured of Venus Sickness with an experimental treatment, invites Spike and Jet to watch her perform in the dance halls.

"Waltz for Venus" is a poignant episode that touches on themes of addiction, regret, and the power of artistic expression. The relationships between the characters are explored in depth, and the plot twists keep the viewer engaged throughout. With its blend of action, comedy, and drama, this episode is a standout in the Cowboy Bebop series.
