Coronation Street is a British soap opera that has been on the air since 1960. The show is set in the fictional town of Weatherfield and follows the lives of its residents. The show is known for its gritty and realistic portrayal of working-class life in northern England.

The 2009 season of Coronation Street saw a number of significant storylines unfold. One of the major storylines of the season was the ongoing feud between the Barlow and Connor families. Tracy Barlow, played by Kate Ford, had recently been released from prison and was determined to exact revenge on the Connors, who she saw as responsible for her incarceration. This led to a number of tense confrontations between Tracy and the Connor family, as well as a number of twists and turns in the storyline.

Another major storyline of the season was the return of Peter Barlow, played by Chris Gascoyne. Peter had previously left the show after struggling with alcoholism and causing a number of problems for his family. His return sparked a number of new storylines, including his relationship with Leanne Battersby, played by Jane Danson, and his attempts to rebuild his relationship with his son Simon, played by Alex Bain.

Other notable storylines of the 2009 season included the ongoing love triangle between Dev Alahan, played by Jimmi Harkishin, and his two partners, Sunita Alahan, played by Shobna Gulati, and Tara Mandal, played by Ayesha Dharker. The season also saw the arrival of a new family, the Windasses, who caused trouble for a number of the show's established characters.

Throughout the season, the show continued to explore the complex and often messy lives of its characters. Relationships were tested, secrets were revealed, and new alliances were formed. As always, the show remained relevant to the lives of its viewers, tackling issues such as mental health, domestic violence, and unemployment.

One of the hallmarks of Coronation Street is its talented cast of actors, who bring their characters to life with authenticity and depth. Over the years, the show has launched the careers of many celebrated actors, including Sarah Lancashire, Suranne Jones, and Sally Dynevor.

Overall, the 2009 season of Coronation Street was a compelling and entertaining continuation of one of the UK's most beloved soap operas. With its strong storytelling and talented cast, the show continued to captivate viewers and maintain its place as a cultural touchstone of British television.
