Ep 10. Mosquito Time

In Corner Gas season 2 episode 10 titled "Mosquito Time", the residents of Dog River prepare for their annual mosquito festival, which brings with it hordes of the pesky insects. Brent tries to convince Hank to dress up as the town's "mosquito mascot", but Hank is more interested in catching the biggest fish in the mosquito-infested lake. Meanwhile, Oscar and Emma compete in a mosquito-catching contest, with Oscar adamant that his homemade mosquito trap is superior to Emma's store-bought one. Wanda is preoccupied with trying to win the festival's pie-eating contest, while Karen is tasked with judging the mosquito-themed parade floats.

As the festival gets underway, chaos ensues when a swarm of particularly aggressive mosquitos descends upon the town. Brent and Lacey struggle to maintain order at Corner Gas, where a constant stream of panicked customers demand insect repellent. Emma's trap fails to catch any mosquitos, and Oscar's triumphant gloating is short-lived when his own trap backfires on him. Meanwhile, Wanda's efforts to win the pie-eating contest are derailed when she accidentally eats a cherry pit and has to be taken to the hospital. Karen, too, has her hands full with the parade floats, which range from the hilariously underwhelming to the downright terrifying.

In the midst of the mosquito madness, the residents of Dog River come together to solve their problems and make the most of the festival. Brent and Hank team up to catch the biggest fish in the lake, using Hank's expertise and Brent's quick thinking to outsmart the mosquitos. Emma and Oscar call a truce and combine their mosquito traps, ultimately catching enough insects to win the contest. Wanda, despite her hospital visit, manages to make it back in time to compete in the pie-eating contest, though she does so with a newfound appreciation for the dangers of swallowing cherry pits. And Karen, after much deliberation, declares a winner for the float contest - much to the delight of the townsfolk.

By the end of the episode, the mosquito festival has come to a close and the residents of Dog River are left with fond (if itchy) memories of the event. As the credits roll, Brent and Lacey sit outside Corner Gas, surveying the aftermath of the festival. "Gotta admit, it was a pretty good turnout," Brent muses. "Even with all the mosquitos." Lacey nods in agreement, adding, "You know what they say - in Dog River, when life gives you mosquitos, you make mosquito time."
