Ep 7. Pioneer and Deer

The episode "Pioneer and Deer" from season 2 of Corner Gas Animated sees the residents of Dog River getting ready for the annual Pioneer Days celebration. Brent, Hank, and Lacey are all excited to participate in the festivities, but when they hear that the new town historian, Nick, will be giving a presentation on the history of Dog River, they all groan in unison.

Despite their initial reluctance, Brent and Hank attend Nick's presentation, where they learn about the town's founding father, who apparently had a strange obsession with deer. The founder apparently spent all of his time chasing and hunting deer while his fellow pioneers were building the town around him. Meanwhile, Emma is struggling to find a way to make her Pioneer Days float stand out from the others. She enlists the help of Davis and Karen, who suggest that they build a giant deer to go along with the theme of the town's founder. Emma is skeptical at first but eventually agrees to the plan.

As the float construction gets underway, Hank becomes fixated on the idea of finding a deer to put on the float. He drags Brent and Wanda out into the woods to try and find one, but they have no luck. Eventually, they stumble upon an injured deer on the side of the road, and Brent agrees to take it back to Corner Gas to nurse it back to health.

While Brent and Wanda take care of the deer, Hank and Karen continue working on the float. They're eager to impress the judges at the Pioneer Days parade, but they're running out of time. The day before the parade, they're putting the finishing touches on the float when disaster strikes.

The giant deer they've built falls off the float and onto the ground, breaking into pieces. Karen is devastated and ready to give up, but Hank refuses to give up on their project. He suggests that they use the real deer that Brent and Wanda have been taking care of as a replacement.

At first, Brent is hesitant to let the deer be used in the parade. He's worried that it will be too stressful for the animal. But when he sees how determined Hank and Karen are, he agrees to let them try.

On the day of the parade, the residents of Dog River gather on the streets to watch the festivities. Brent, Hank, and Lacey's enthusiasm for Pioneer Days has rubbed off on the rest of the town, and everyone is in high spirits. As the parade gets underway, Hank and Karen's float makes its way down the street, with the real deer standing proudly at the front.

The judges announce that Emma's float has won first place, but Hank and Karen don't seem too disappointed. They're just happy to have been a part of the parade and to have pulled off such an ambitious project. As the episode comes to a close, Brent releases the deer back into the wild, and the residents of Dog River celebrate another successful Pioneer Days.
