In Continuum season 2 episode 4, titled "Second Skin," the tense action of the series continues as the future division of the Vancouver police force grapples with finding answers to the many questions surrounding the time-traveling terrorist group, Liber8. In the previous episodes, the team has been on the hunt for one of Liber8's leaders, Sonya Valentine, who escaped from a high-security facility with plans to wreak havoc on the city.
The episode begins with Kiera Cameron, the protagonist of the show, investigating a crime scene where a young girl has been killed by a mysterious new drug known as flash. The drug has been increasingly common in the city ever since Liber8's escape, and Kiera is determined to get to the bottom of who is manufacturing and distributing it. During her investigation, she discovers a lead that points her in the direction of a new and dangerous player in the drug market: a woman named Elena, who has taken over the operations of a now-defunct cartel.
Meanwhile, Sonya Valentine, the elusive Liber8 member, has been moving in on Elena's territory. Upon realizing this, Elena hires a bodyguard to protect her from Sonya's dangerous activities, but things take a turn for the worse when Sonya manages to capture the bodyguard and steal his identity. Disguised as the bodyguard, Sonya is able to infiltrate Elena's inner circle and discover important intel about the drug operations.
As the episode progresses, Kiera and the future division become more and more convinced that Elena's operation is linked to Liber8 in some way. The team sets up a sting operation to catch Sonya and Elena in the act of meeting, hoping to finally get the evidence they need to make a connection between the two organizations. However, things quickly go awry when Sonya reveals her true identity to Elena, resulting in a standoff between the two women and the future division.
In the midst of the chaos, Kiera is forced to confront her own ideals about justice and the law as she grapples with the moral ambiguity of working for a police force from the future. She is forced to make a difficult decision as she decides whether to take down Sonya and Elena by any means necessary or risk letting them continue to operate to preserve her own sense of justice.
As the episode comes to a close, viewers are left on the edge of their seat as Kiera's decisions have lasting consequences for the future and the present. The tension and adrenaline of the episode are palpable, leaving fans eagerly waiting for the next installment of Continuum to see what happens next.
