Jeff Winger and the rest of the Greendale Community College study group are back for another season. As season 4 kicks off, the gang returns to campus for their senior year, but the school is facing some major changes and issues. In the first episode, "History 101," the group finds themselves trying to save their beloved Greendale from a new rival college, City College, which plans to take over Greendale and turn it into a parking lot.
The episode starts with the study group returning to campus to start their senior year. When they arrive, they find out that Greendale is facing some major financial problems, and the school is at risk of being shut down. To make matters worse, City College has set its sights on Greendale and plans to take over the school. Jeff Winger leads the group in a plan to try to save Greendale from being taken over by City College.
As Jeff and the group try to come up with a plan, they find themselves facing some unexpected obstacles. For one, they discover that their favorite hangout spot, the Greendale cafeteria, has been shut down. They also learn that their beloved biology teacher, Professor Kane, has been fired. Meanwhile, the dean of City College, Craig Pelton, shows up on campus and starts making changes left and right.
In order to try to save Greendale, Jeff decides to organize a Save Greendale Committee, which includes the whole study group as well as some of the new students they've met on campus. Jeff also decides to run for school president in order to try to fight back against City College. But as Jeff runs his campaign, he realizes that he may be in over his head.
Meanwhile, the other members of the group each have their own problems to deal with. Shirley is dealing with marital issues, while Troy and Abed are finding it hard to adjust to their new living arrangements. Annie, on the other hand, is trying to figure out her post-college plans.
As the episode progresses, Jeff and the group come up with a plan to try to save Greendale from City College. But as they put their plan into action, they realize that it may not be enough to stop City College's takeover. Ultimately, "History 101" sets the stage for the rest of the season, as the group faces new challenges and tries to navigate their way through their senior year at Greendale Community College.
Overall, "History 101" is a solid start to season 4 of Community. It reintroduces the characters and sets up the plot for the rest of the season. While it's not the strongest episode in the series, it still has plenty of laughs and some memorable moments. Fans of the show will be pleased to see the gang back together and facing yet another set of challenges.
