Common Law is an American comedy-drama television series that premiered on the USA Network in May 2012. The show follows two detectives, Travis Marks and Wes Mitchell, who are partners in the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division. Despite being successful on solving cases, the duo's constant bickering and differing personalities lead to them attending couples therapy.

The show stars Michael Ealy as Travis Marks, a charismatic ladies' man and former lawyer who became a detective after getting bored with his previous job. Warren Kole plays the role of Wes Mitchell, an uptight and by-the-book detective who relies on logic and rationality to solve cases. Sonya Walger joins the cast as Dr. Ryan, the detectives' therapist who tries to help them work through their differences. Jack McGee rounds out the main cast as their boss, Captain Phil Sutton.

Throughout the series, viewers see the partners' unique way of solving cases, which usually involves Travis' street smarts and Wes' analytical skills. The two are constantly at odds on how to approach cases, leading to their commander, Captain Sutton, to send them to couples therapy to work out their problems. In therapy, Dr. Ryan attempts to get the detectives to open up and address their issues.

As Travis and Wes delve into cases in each episode, they encounter a wide range of eccentric characters who often test their patience and require them to think outside the box. Despite their disagreements, Travis and Wes are two of the best detectives on the Robbery-Homicide Division, and they always manage to crack the case in the end.

The show features a mix of comedy and drama, with each episode typically revolving around a central case while also exploring the personal lives of the characters. Viewers can expect to see plenty of witty banter and comedic moments between Travis and Wes, as well as more serious moments that delve into the detectives' past traumas and current struggles.

As the series progresses and Travis and Wes continue therapy, they begin to open up to each other and work on their communication skills. The two start to realize that their differences may actually be their greatest strength and that they complement each other in solving cases. The show touches on themes of masculinity, friendship, and what it means to be a good partner, both personally and professionally.

Overall, Common Law is an entertaining and heartfelt show that combines elements of comedy and drama in a unique way. The chemistry between the actors, particularly Ealy and Kole, is electric, and viewers will find themselves rooting for the duo to work through their issues and become better partners. The show's blend of case-solving and personal exploration creates a satisfying viewing experience that will leave viewers both laughing and reflecting on the importance of healthy relationships.
