In this episode of Comic Book Men, titled "The Mightiest of Mortals," the crew at Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash are back to their usual antics. The episode opens with them discussing one of the most iconic superheroes of all time - Shazam. They explore some of the history behind the character and share some little-known facts.
Next, the guys are excited to welcome a special guest - Joe Quesada, the Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Entertainment. Joe is a big fan of the show, and the guys are thrilled to have him in the Stash. They take the opportunity to talk to him about his work at Marvel and get his perspective on the comics industry today.
One of the highlights of the episode is when a customer comes into the store with a copy of "Whiz Comics" #2, which is the first appearance of Captain Marvel (aka Shazam). The guys are incredibly excited to see this rare comic and can't resist the chance to buy it. They bring it over to a nearby comic book store to get it graded and find out just how valuable it is.
In addition to talking about Shazam and examining rare comics, the guys also have some fun with classic toys from the 80s and 90s. They take a look at some vintage G.I. Joe toys and share some memories of playing with them as kids. This segues into a discussion of other popular 80s and 90s toys like Transformers and He-Man.
As always, there are plenty of laughs and good-natured ribbing between the Comic Book Men crew. They share their love of all things comics and geek culture and have a great time doing it. In the end, they manage to learn a lot about both Shazam and the comics industry as a whole. Fans of the show won't want to miss this episode.
