As a friendly competition amongst strangers, Come Dine With Me South Africa truly is a unique take on hosting and culinary culture. In season 2, episode 10, contestants once again take turns in hosting and preparing meals for each other, but this time around, something is different. As the season approaches its end, tensions are rising and the stakes are higher than ever before.

In this episode, our contestants are tasked with taking inspiration from the city of Durban for their dishes. As a coastal city with a diverse Indian and Zulu culture, the flavors and ingredients available for this challenge are practically endless. Contenders are quick to embrace the challenge, and are excitedly planning their menus and decor as the show begins.

First to host is Lebo, a bubbly and outgoing chef. She explains that her meal will be a tribute to her grandmother's recipe book, a cherished treasure filled with all of the family's most-loved dishes passed down for generations. Her guests are intrigued and excited for a taste of tradition. The atmosphere is lively, and Lebo's infectious personality keeps things fun and light-hearted throughout the evening.

Next up is Nomfundo, who is confident she can wow her guests with her modern take on classic Durban dishes. Her menu consists of braai (grilled) meat and pap (porridge), traditional Zulu dishes of which she has a unique twist.

Third to host is Areeb. As a chef/modern food blogger, he is determined to push the boundaries of Durban cuisine. Areeb presents a contemporary version of Indian food which he mixes with Zulu spices and flavours while drawing from his own Pakistani heritage.

Finally, we have Themba, the last contender of the episode. His vision for the meal is a mix of South African and Indian flavors. He is determined to win and impress his guests with a menu that includes bunny chow, a popular Indian dish with a South African twist.

As always, amidst all of the delicious food and unique decor choices, tensions and drama begin to rise. Some guests don't bond as easily with their counterparts. While others have their eye on the prize and can be seen to be plotting things against their fellow competitors. Catty and argumentative behavior disrupts the congenial nature of the competition as the episode airs closer to the finale.

Despite this, each guest still manages to thoroughly enjoy themselves, all while keeping their eyes on the prize. In the end, only one can win, and the contestants eagerly await the final scores and critique from judge Lentswe Bhengu. Who will be victorious, and who will be sent packing? Tune in to find out!
