In the season 5 episode 12 of Cold Case titled "Sabotage", the team is tasked with investigating the murder of a young woman named Trisa Hayes. Trisa was an aspiring Olympic figure skater who was killed mere days before her big break at a regional skating competition.
As the detectives delve deeper into Trisa's past, they discover that she was much more than just a promising athlete. Trisa had a complicated relationship with her mother, who was heavily invested in her daughter's career and seemed determined to push her to the brink of exhaustion.
But the investigation takes a surprising turn when the team discovers that Trisa was not the only skater targeted by the killer. Several other athletes had also been threatened and intimidated in the weeks leading up to the competition. It quickly becomes clear that there is something more sinister at play, and that the murder may be part of a larger conspiracy to sabotage the entire competition.
The detectives interview Trisa's fellow competitors, coaches, and even the skating officials who were responsible for organizing the event. With each new interview, they uncover more and more clues that point towards a possible motive for the murder. But just as they begin to piece together the puzzle, they are met with an unexpected obstacle: the prime suspect in the case suddenly disappears.
Desperate to find the killer before he strikes again, the team works tirelessly to gather enough evidence to secure a conviction. But as they get closer and closer to solving the case, they begin to realize that the conspiracy may be even bigger than they originally thought. With twists and turns at every corner, "Sabotage" is a thrilling episode that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
