- June 8, 2011
The CMT Music Awards season 1 episode 11 brings viewers the 2011 edition of the popular country music event. As always, the show features a star-studded lineup of performances, as well as awards for some of the biggest names in country music.
The night begins with a bang as former American Idol winner Scotty McCreery takes the stage to perform his hit single "I Love You This Big." The crowd is clearly excited to see McCreery back in the spotlight, and he does not disappoint with his energetic and heartfelt performance.
Next up is a special collaboration between newcomers The Band Perry and rock legend Steven Tyler. The two acts team up for a unique rendition of the Aerosmith classic "Sweet Emotion," which gets the entire audience on their feet. Tyler's signature rock vocals blend surprisingly well with the country twang of The Band Perry, making for a memorable performance that shows off the versatility of both artists.
Another highlight of the night is a tribute to the late country icon Glen Campbell, who had recently passed away. The emotional performance features Campbell's daughter Ashley and fellow country star Blake Shelton, who perform a touching rendition of Campbell's classic hit "Gentle On My Mind." The tribute is a fitting tribute to a true legend of country music, and the audience responds with a standing ovation.
Of course, it wouldn't be the CMT Music Awards without some awards being handed out. One of the most prestigious awards of the evening is the Video of the Year award, which goes to Taylor Swift for her hit single "Mine." The award is presented by actress Shania Twain, who herself is a legend of the country music world. Swift is clearly emotional as she accepts the award, thanking her fans for their support and expressing her love for the country music community.
Other winners on the night include Miranda Lambert, who takes home awards for Female Video of the Year and Collaborative Video of the Year, both for her hit single "The House That Built Me." Meanwhile, husband and wife duo Thompson Square win the award for Duo Video of the Year for their hit "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not."
Throughout the night, the audience is also treated to other exciting performances from some of the biggest names in country music. Jason Aldean rocks the stage with his hit single "Dirt Road Anthem," while Keith Urban shows off his guitar skills on "Long Hot Summer." Lady Antebellum also makes an appearance, performing their hit single "Just a Kiss" to an enthusiastic reception.
All in all, the CMT Music Awards 2011 is a highly enjoyable and entertaining event that showcases the best of country music. Fans of the genre will not want to miss this one-of-a-kind celebration of the artists and songs that make country music so unique and beloved.
