CMT Artists of the Year is a musical celebration that honors the top country artists of the year. In the first episode of season one, CMT Artists of the Year 2010, five of the biggest names in country music are recognized for their outstanding contributions to the genre.

The show kicks off with a performance by Lady Antebellum, the 2010 CMT Artist of the Year recipients. The trio delivers a stunning rendition of their hit song "Need You Now," to a rapturous applause from the audience. Lady Antebellum's success in 2010 was undeniable. The band's sophomore album, "Need You Now," was a massive commercial success, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and selling over 3 million copies in the U.S. alone.

Next up, the show pays tribute to Miranda Lambert, the 2010 CMT Female Artist of the Year. Lambert had a breakout year, winning four major awards at the 44th Annual Country Music Association Awards, including Female Vocalist of the Year. She also released her third studio album, "Revolution," which spawned several hit singles and earned critical acclaim.

The show also recognizes the 2010 CMT Male Artist of the Year, Jason Aldean. Aldean was coming off the success of his chart-topping album "Wide Open," which included the hit singles "Big Green Tractor" and "The Truth." He also headlined his own tour, selling out arenas across the country.

Another highlight of the show is the recognition of the 2010 CMT Group of the Year, Zac Brown Band. The band had a breakout year in 2010, releasing their second album "You Get What You Give," which included the smash hit "Toes." They also won their first Grammy Award for Best New Artist.

Finally, the show pays tribute to Taylor Swift, who is recognized as the 2010 CMT Artist of the Year for the second year in a row. She also won several major awards, including Entertainer of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
