In "Friends of All Ages," the sixth episode of season one of Clifford's Puppy Days, Emily Elizabeth and Clifford receive a surprise visit from Emily's older cousin, Samantha. Samantha is a teenager and has brought her new friend, John, along with her. John's presence makes Clifford and his friends, Daffodil and Jorge, uneasy because he is much older than them. They feel like he won't want to play their games and that he'll think they're babyish.
Despite their initial fears, the puppies are pleasantly surprised when John starts playing along with their games. They have a fun time playing ball, hide-and-seek, and other activities. But the real lesson of the episode comes when Samantha and Emily Elizabeth remind the puppies that friends come in all ages and sizes, and it's important not to judge someone based solely on their age. The puppies learn that while it's good to have friends your own age, you can learn a lot from people who are older or younger than you.
The second half of the episode, "Clifford's Super Sleepover," focuses on the puppies' first sleepover. Emily Elizabeth and Clifford invite Daffodil and Jorge to spend the night, and the four friends have a blast. From a pillow fight to a pizza party, they enjoy all the classic sleepover activities. But it's not all fun and games when Jorge gets homesick and misses his family. Emily Elizabeth encourages him to open up about his feelings and reassures him that he'll be able to see his family soon. The episode ends on a sweet note as the four friends fall asleep snuggled up in their sleeping bags.
Overall, "Friends of All Ages" and "Clifford's Super Sleepover" are classic episodes of Clifford's Puppy Days that teach important lessons about friendship, open-mindedness, and how to deal with new experiences.
