The episode begins with the students of Coal Hill Academy excitedly preparing for a new sports season. However, when they meet their new coach, April's father, Huw MacKenzie, they quickly realize that he is both a demanding and rather intimidating figure. Additionally, Mr. MacKenzie brings with him a dragon tattoo, which seems to have a life of its own, disappearing and reappearing on his skin.
As the sports tryouts get underway, it becomes clear that Mr. MacKenzie has very high expectations for his team. He is determined to push them to their limits and make them the best team in the school. However, his methods prove to be problematic as he pushes the students too hard, refusing to let them take breaks or drink water during practice. Tanya, one of the students, is especially struggling, as she has a heart condition that makes it difficult for her to keep up with the intense training.
Meanwhile, Charlie and Matteusz are attempting to navigate their new relationship, which has become complicated due to Charlie's secret alien heritage. Matteusz is struggling to come to terms with the fact that Charlie has lied to him and kept such a huge secret from him. As they try to work through their issues, they stumble upon a strange, glowing rift in space-time.
As the episode progresses, it becomes clear that Mr. MacKenzie's dragon tattoo is not just a harmless decoration. The tattoo is actually a creature that has been bonded to his skin, and it's causing him to act irrationally and lash out at his students. The students soon discover that the dragon was accidentally summoned by Mr. MacKenzie during a trip to Asia, and it has been causing chaos ever since.
With the help of Charlie and Matteusz, as well as Miss Quill and their science teacher, Miss Armitage, the students come up with a plan to banish the dragon and save Mr. MacKenzie. They use an invention of Miss Quill's to create a portal to the dragon's home dimension, where they confront the creature and convince it to leave Mr. MacKenzie's body.
In the end, the sports season is saved, and Mr. MacKenzie is back to his old self. However, the episode ends on a foreboding note, as the rift that Charlie and Matteusz discovered begins to open wider, leaving the door open for more supernatural trouble in the future.
