Detectives Hank Voight and Erin Lindsay lead an elite intelligence unit of the Chicago Police Department. In season 2 episode 11 titled "We Don't Work Together Anymore," tensions rise when Sergeant Platt (Amy Morton) assigns Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) to work with his ex-partner-turned-private-investigator Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush).
Halstead's new partnership with Lindsay is not received well by the rest of the team, especially when Platt assigns them to work on a sex trafficking case. As they work together, old wounds are reopened and Halstead and Lindsay's past romantic relationship adds a layer of complexity to the case.
Meanwhile, Sergeant Platt and Detective Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) confront each other over recent events that have caused tension between them. Platt questions Dawson's ability to lead the team while Dawson challenges Platt's decision making and leadership style.
The tension between Halstead and Lindsay reaches its peak when Halstead makes a critical decision during the investigation without consulting Lindsay, leading to a heated argument. As the team works to solve the case, they must also navigate the interpersonal conflicts within their own unit.
"We Don't Work Together Anymore" explores the complicated nature of relationships and how personal conflicts can affect the work of law enforcement officers. As the team grapples with their own issues, they must also remain focused on the task at hand as they work to bring justice to the victims of sex trafficking.
