In Cheyenne season 7 episode 9, titled "The Vanishing Breed," Cheyenne finds himself at the center of a range war between two families. The episode opens with Cheyenne and his friend, Tom Blackwell, riding into town. They're there to meet up with Tom's wife and son, who are arriving on the stagecoach. While they wait, Cheyenne goes into the saloon and finds himself in the middle of an argument between a group of men.
The argument is between the Bender family and the Rogers family, two neighboring ranchers who have a long-standing feud. The Benders accuse the Rogers of stealing their cattle, while the Rogers deny any wrongdoing. Cheyenne tries to stay out of the conflict, but when things turn violent, he's forced to intervene.
Cheyenne and Tom help the stagecoach driver get away from the saloon, but they're pursued by the Benders. They manage to outrun them, but not before Tom is shot. Cheyenne takes Tom back to his house, and there they discover that Tom's wife and son are missing.
Cheyenne sets out to find them, but he soon learns that the Benders have kidnapped them. The Benders plan to use Tom's wife and son as leverage to force the Rogers to give in to their demands.
Cheyenne decides to take matters into his own hands and sets out to rescue them. He enlists the help of a local rancher, who is sympathetic to his cause. Together, they launch a daring raid on the Benders' hideout.
The rescue mission is a success, and Cheyenne reunites Tom with his wife and son. But the conflict between the two families is far from over. Cheyenne realizes that the only way to stop the feud from escalating further is to bring the Benders and Rogers together to talk things out.
Cheyenne manages to convince the two families to meet, and he serves as a mediator during the tense negotiations. He finally gets them to agree to a truce, but not before a surprise revelation that changes everything.
"The Vanishing Breed" is a classic Western tale that showcases Cheyenne's courage, quick thinking, and sense of justice. It's a story about the timeless battle between good and evil, and the power of redemption and forgiveness.
