Cheyenne, the popular western television series, follows the adventures of the eponymous character as he travels around the American West. In season 3 episode 19, titled "Noose at Noon", Cheyenne finds himself in the town of Gridley, where he soon discovers that the townspeople are planning to hang a man at noon. The man being hanged is Tom Purdy, an old friend of Cheyenne's who has been accused of murder.

Cheyenne arrives in town just as the preparations for the hanging are getting underway. He is shocked to hear that his friend Tom is the man who will be executed. Tom is accused of killing a local rancher, but Cheyenne is convinced that there has been a mistake. He sets out to investigate the case and clear his friend's name.

Cheyenne soon discovers that the real murderer is a wealthy rancher named Sam Bailey. Bailey murdered the rancher himself and pinned the blame on Tom to cover his tracks. Cheyenne confronts Bailey and his henchmen, leading to a dramatic showdown between the two sides.

With the help of some of the local townspeople, Cheyenne is able to capture Bailey and his accomplices. Tom's name is cleared, and the hanging is called off just in time. Cheyenne and Tom ride off into the sunset together, grateful for each other's help and companionship.

Throughout the episode, Cheyenne must face a number of challenges as he works to clear Tom's name. He must confront corrupt law enforcement officials, brave gunfire and quicksand, and face down dangerous adversaries. But through it all, Cheyenne remains steadfast in his determination to uncover the truth and ensure that justice is served.
