In Cheyenne season 5 episode 9, titled "The Beholden," Cheyenne (played by Clint Walker) finds himself in a complicated situation when he agrees to help a young woman who has been ostracized by her community due to her family's criminal past. The woman, named Laurie (played by Karen Sharpe), is desperate for Cheyenne's help in clearing her father's name and proving that he was not responsible for a recent robbery.

Despite the objections of the townspeople, Cheyenne agrees to take on Laurie's case, and begins investigating the crime. However, as he delves deeper into the case, he begins to uncover evidence that suggests that Laurie's father may actually have been involved in the robbery after all.

As Cheyenne struggles to untangle the web of deceit surrounding Laurie's family, he finds himself increasingly drawn to the young woman and her plight. And when the real culprits behind the robbery are finally exposed, Cheyenne is faced with a heartbreaking choice that will ultimately determine the fate of Laurie and her family.

As with many episodes of Cheyenne, "The Beholden" deals with themes of justice, loyalty, and the search for truth in a world that often seems hopelessly corrupt and unjust. Featuring strong performances from both Walker and Sharpe, as well as a host of talented supporting actors, this episode is a classic example of the Western genre at its finest. So saddle up and join Cheyenne on his latest adventure as he fights for justice in a lawless land where the only thing you can truly count on is your own sense of right and wrong.
